Billy at 2 months

This is my little baby "billy" now..He just turned 2 months old today! A very playful dog..Always loves to eat,eat and eat :) that's why he really gained weight now..from 1.5 to 2.5kls..Thanks god he's on his way to his third shot of parvo immunization this coming november 22..He's a healthy puppy and very alert, active and energetic.. Everybody wants to see and hug him..He's friendly and behaves well when we go out for a walk..For now, we have started to train him with some basics like sit,stay,up and stand..and we're glad that he's smart! A fast learner! Ill be uploading some training vids of billy soon so you would see how well he's been doing on his basic training.. :) see yah on my next post!

An actress turned dog trainer in London and New York since 1990 where her heart belongs.She has been working with some of UK's most boisterous and disobedient dogs on the very popular It's me or the dog on channel 4. She's not only concern with your dog's behavior but she also do family counseling who have problems with their pooches and to help people understand their dogs. She also wrote lots of books: The series of It's me or the dog, How to have the perfect pet, Fat Dog Slim as her second book and one published in February How to have a healthy, happy pet..She possesses a very unique ability on how to catch dog's attention and how to deeply analyze the dog's behavior inorder to stop whatever bad habits they have.

How to tame your dog with ease..

If you have a new puppy or dog, then you need to provide some sort of basic training for your pet. You can train your dog yourself or can get it trained through an obedience instructor. As dogs are like kids, they need proper training to mould them into obedient pets. With the required training, your dog can learn how to behave. You can be a happy owner if you have a trained dog. Dog training involves learning to communicate with a dog properly. You can train young pups within 2 to 3 weeks while for an older dog it can take about 7 to 8 weeks for training. Basic training can be started for pups when they are about 8 -12 weeks old for teaching commands and tricks. From about 3 to 6 months, formal classes can begin.

With understanding and patience, the trainer can impart efficient training to resolve the behavioral problems of dogs. For adequate training of your dog, you do not require any strong language or physical discipline. There are a number of methods for making training enjoyable for both your dog and yourself. Certain specific trainings are also available for dogs for doing tasks such as rescue dogs, guiding for the blind, hunting dogs etc.

When providing training for your dog, ensure that the place is open and quiet without any distractions. You can make the training experience an enjoyable one for both of you for ensuring that your dog stays happy, gains confidence and behaves well. The way and tone of speech is important in dog training. You need to use a friendly and happy tone for commands like 'come' and ‘heel’. Your voice can be firm and low for commands such as ' stay' and ‘Sit down'. You need to appreciate your puppy or dog by offering some toy or food when it obeys the command. After the training class, you can take a little time to play with your pup or dog and this can develop a bond between both of you during the training. You should have good endurance to train and always should avoid harsh punishment.

Remember that food is important in dog training, as most dogs will love to eat. Some foods are tasty for dogs and it is also convenient for the trainer as bits of food can be kept in bag or pockets. Also note that giving food brings positive associations while training. You need to just know which food your dog likes. Never use food for behavior control; instead food should support a behavior. Never train the dog on a full stomach.

Keep the leash a bit loose when you walk with your dog because a tight leash could teach the dog to pull. Do not punish the dog after calling to you. Only one command should be given at any one time. Dogs cannot differentiate the good and bad deeds, as they know specific behavior to certain situations; therefore name a behavior to reinforce some control. Behavior will increase with reward.

You can also choose online dog training if a dog trainer or dog training school is not accessible. You can enroll for some online dog training classes and know all the secrets and techniques used by professional dog trainers for activity training, behavior training and obedience training.

"Hello everybody! I've turned 1 month today!...

Billy turned 1 month today. And guess what?? He's having his milestones..He's now learning to carry his body to walk..His eyes and ears are wide open now. We just jope he'll be as good as her mom taimo..and not be like his dad swooshie..Billy had his first shot of deworming last saturday and will be scheduled for a first shot of parvo canine on the 25th..see more of Billy's milestones on my next posts..see yah! One of the main reasons that you should always do obedience training is to create a base where you and your dog are able to learn and effectively relate to each other. The first thing that obedience training will do is create a very common language between you and your dog that both you and your dog can understand and communicate through. A dog who has obedience training in his past is able to respond correctly to any commands, instead of neurotically trying to please and become anxious with your displeasure.

A dog with obedience training will acknowledge all of the people who are in the household family as the leaders and will become more safe and calm around them and feel like they are part of a bond of love and authority. Obedience training is a method of training that you can use to help fulfill a bit of your dog's most basic needs which includes exercise, the ability to know what is expected of by the owner and feel secure knowing that, a feeling of accomplishment, and constructive social interaction.With using obedience training, it would give your pet a job to do and can be very useful in redirecting some of the more mental energy of your pet that was meant for work.

While there are many different styles of dog obedience training, the two main types will be listed in this article and future articles to come.The main types of training your dog is with a leash/collar training or reward training. The majority of people find that the leash and collar training method to be much harder then the reward training method.

Although both of the styles are fairly old, the leash and collar method has been a historical method used for many years.While obedience training dated back from training military dogs, it has shown us that the reward method is less traditional.

Even though obedience training with rewards has become a very popular method of training within the last 5 or so years, the leash and collar method of training is still the best way that you can go about training your dog. Baby Billy is born..

It was last Sept. 14,2008 around 9-10pm when taimo gave birth to a one and only boy. At first we didn't even noticed that she already gave birth because there was no any signs earlier that night..We just saw her baby when we heard him cry..It was a cutie little boy, who's very energetic! he's color is white with a little of light brown in his head..It's good coz taimo really takes good care of her baby..She always makes sure to breastfeed,look after and clean him every now and then. We call him "Billy" named him after our idol who's very energetic and active.. :-D Now, Billy turned 1 week old last sunday and he's such a cutie! he even gained weight..If you look at him, he looks like more than he's age..We are now excited to see him grow..and its good to know that his mother takes good care of him very well. So, Standby for more updates on our baby Billy..

Top 10 Dog Disease

Here are the top 10 dog deseases according to some experts, you should watch out from your dogs to avoid them from being a victim of it..

1. Rabies -considered as virus and could become fatal when symptoms appear. This could also be fatal to humans too. So, a rabies vaccination is highly required with yearly booster shots.

2. Distemper -Among the serious diseases of dogs, this is considered by the American Veterinary Medical Association considers distemper to be the one virus most threatening to dogs worldwide. That is why all dos should be properly vaccinated with boosters since they are very vulnerable.

3. Parvovirus (Parvo) -This also ossurs worldwide and expremely contagious disease most especially among puppies so veterinarians always advice to have dogs be vaccinated because this could lead to death within 48 to 72 hours. Symptoms of this includes depression, loss of appetite, vomiting and severe diarrhea.

4. Leptospirosis -This is a bacterial disease that includes lethargy, kidney inflammation, low-grade fever, vomiting, reddening of the mucous membranes and conjunctiva, and blood clotting abnormalities and this also found among humans that could be treated with an antibiotics but Veterinarians are often reluctant to inoculate against this because there is a questionable effect that puppies can have adverse reactions to it.

5. Kennel Cough -A respiratory disease prevalent in kennels and shelters. Some virus stains like Bortadella with symptoms like a dry hacking cough along with inflammation of the larynx, bronchial tubes and trachea. Vaccination every 6 months could prevent those symptoms.

6. Infectious canine hepatitis -Symptoms of this includes a slight fever or slight lethargy, it can, in some instances become fatal. Recovery is usually rapid. Vaccination is also required.

7. Heartworm -These are parasites that grow and spread out infesting chambers in the heart, arteries and the lungs. Symptoms appear gradually, usually manifested in easy tiring, lethargy and a soft cough. If not treated, heartworm eventually brings on death by congestive heart failure in a once active animal.

8. Coronavirus -Its symptoms are diarrhea and vomiting Other indications are loss of appetite, smelly diarrhea, lethargy and dehydration. Replacement of lost fluids and control of vomiting and diarrhea are the recommended treatments. A vaccine is not generally recommended.

9. Lyme Disease -This is a bacterial spread by ticks. Symptoms will include lethargy, joint pain, lack of appetite, lymph node enlargement, and fever. Treatment is with tetracycline, an antibiotic. Prevention using Frontline or Advantage is obvoiusly recommended.

10. Obesity -Like humans, this disease is also considered serious medical problem. Exercise for your dogs is highly recommended. A daily walk could be best for them.

One very important way to prevent your dog from getting sick is to get him immunized against certain diseases. The following are the five major infectious diseases: Distemper, Canine hepatitis, Parvovirus, Leptospirosis and Rabies. Distemper, canine hepatitis and parvovirus are all viruses, which means that there are no antibiotics and your vet can only treat the symptoms, but your dog's body has to fight the disease. All of these diseases can be fatal, but as long as you get your dog vaccinated you should not need to worry about him ever being infected.

The immunization process for all these diseases consists of a series of shots when the dog is still a puppy, with booster shots usually given once a year. Often one shot can be given to cover distemper, canine hepatitis, parvovirus and leptospirosis.

Distemper - This is a virus that affects the nervous and immune systems. It usually strikes puppies, but adults can be infected as well. Distemper is transmitted through the air. Puppies usually receive a series of 3 vaccines; the first at 6-8 weeks, the 2nd at 10-12 weeks, and the third at 14-16 weeks. A booster shot should be given once a year.

Canine Hepatitis - As with distemper, this is a virus that mainly hits puppies less than a year old. It affects the liver and can lead to kidney disease. Canine Hepatitis is usually spread through infected dog's urine, stool and saliva. The vaccine timing is typically the same as the distemper vaccine, and a booster is given once a year.

Parvovirus - This virus is fatal if not treated immediately. It affects the intestines and bowel and is spread through the stools of infected dogs. The timing of the vaccine is the same as distemper and canine hepatitis.

Leptospirosis - Unlike distemper, hepatitis and parvovirus, this is a bacterial disease. There are two kinds of leptospirosis, one type attacks the kidney and the other attacks the liver. It is spread through the urine of animals that have had the disease. Although antibiotics are available, vaccination is strongly recommended. The vaccine is given at the same time as distemper, hepatitis and parvovirus.

Rabies - This virus is always fatal and affects the nervous system. Dogs who are suspected of being infected are almost always euthanized. Rabies is spread through the saliva of infected animals. The first vaccine for rabies is usually given at 3-4 months, the second about one year later, and a booster shot given every 1-3 years, depending on the type of vaccine your vet uses.

Base on personal experience..I could not afford having a new dog and lose it just like what happened with my "noah" died due to parvo..i just couldn't believe i have ignored the most important part of his life..that is his immunization..Having a dog is not just as easy as you might imagine or just for fun or maybe you just like it..You really have to Love it and care for it with all your heart..As I go through this new blog i've created, I'll be sharing you some tips, training and tricks on how to take good care of your dogs..and would do my best to provide you more info about dogs.. :)
