One of the main reasons that you should always do obedience training is to create a base where you and your dog are able to learn and effectively relate to each other. The majority of people find that the leash and collar training method to be much harder then the reward training method.

Although both of the styles are fairly old, the leash and collar method has been a historical method used for many years.While obedience training dated back from training military dogs, it has shown us that the reward method is less traditional.

Even though obedience training with rewards has become a very popular method of training within the last 5 or so years, the leash and collar method of training is still the best way that you can go about training your dog. Depending on your dog, as some may become really motivated for not obeying, which is mostly law enforcement canines, you may want to go about a more punishing method of training. This makes the dog able to attack before thinking if it is needed and helps your dog be more motivate to fight.
